5302 Compilation

The 5302 course covers Concepts of Educational Technology. This is my second set of courses in the ADL program and I am proud to say that it has flowed substantially better for me. Since I completed EDLD 5303 (Applying Educational Technology: Portfolio) beforehand, I was better prepared for this course. It was critical that I understood I did not know the ins and outs of making a website YET. Although I learned an array of ways to cultivate my website in the first course, I was still able to learn, grow, and develop my website more elaborately in 5302. Initiating my growth mindset has helped me become more confident in my ADL work, my teaching at my job, and my personal life. 5302 has intensified my desire to help my students grow academically and emotionally while identifying the tools to help them become lifelong learners. The assignments in this course have provided the tools necessary to instill in my students in order to feed their appetite for learning and keep them motivated while doing so. COVA has also played a pivotal role of my journey in this course, utilizing my choice and ownership of learning has helped me better find my voice. I now find it soothing to create my website and analyze my thoughts because I am proud of the work I am producing. My ultimate goal is to transfer this same sense of enjoyment and independence onto my students so they may be proud of the work they create in our classroom and strive to present it to the world. As I continue on in this program, I am prepared to embrace the failures I encounter, and reconstruct them into a success. The only way to grow is to welcome constructive criticism and challenges, while still enjoying the creative process. The students in the ADL program benefit from this course being early in the program, because engaging in a growth mindset will better develop our thought process as we participate in more thought provoking assignments in courses to come.

The ADL program has shed a new light on learning for me. As I have reflected over time, I realize I have had a fixed mindset since I was a child. Often times I would give up on things easily, have had my feelings hurt surrounding constructive criticism, and wanted everything I did academically to be perfect and became frustrated when it was not. My growth mindset page explains how to gain a growth mindset and the benefits of possessing one.

Identifying your personal why is incredibly important in education. This keeps us grounded and provides a morale boost when we feel burnt out or discouraged with being an educator. This learning manifesto is important to me because it is a reminder of why I decided to dedicate my life to not only my students growth, but my personal growth as well. This manifesto will always have the opportunity to evolve, because as I grow personally and professionally due to life experiences, my outlook may change. That is the power of having a growth mindset- welcoming and engaging in change,

Since this is my second round of courses in the ADL program, I have established a great group of people that I would like to continue collaborating with throughout the rest of this program. These women are incredibly intelligent, kind, and have provided a safe space for me to express concerns, receive feedback, and collaborate on ideas with. I am excited to continue our journey in this program together, so we can cheer each other on to the finish line. This post discusses my growth with collaboration in this course.

This page is linked to the reflective learning I have completed throughout this course. These blog posts helped aid me in completing my 5302 assignments, challenged me to think outside the box, and required relevant readings and videos. Although some discussions were more thought-provoking and difficult for me than others, I have an appreciation for the knowledge I have gained.
