Before enrolling in this degree program, I did not know much about ePortfolios, much less about their importance. Now that I have submerged myself into what an ePortfolio is, I aspire to create a space for myself that engages people with my thoughts, concerns, and educational interests.
I think there is something incredible about the collaboration between teachers, administrators, and students. ePortfolios give us an opportunity to share the knowledge we gain, share our interpretations, and new ideas we curate. The great thing about these portfolios is that anyone can manufacture them and make them their own. Educators and administrators can use this tool to gather new research they discover, explain their philosophies, discuss new innovative ideas, and different things they’ve collected over the years to implement in their classrooms. Students can promote their learning, collaborate with their peers, and track their progress over the course of their educational career with their ePortfolios.
Although ePortfolios are amazing tools to collect our experiences, I have identified some challenges that one could encounter. For instance, one should take the time to research the site they would like to use for their portfolio; some sites may be more complicated to maneuver than others. Also, keeping information current can become challenging, so it will be important to set aside time to post on your blog.
